Shelagh Squires, RVT
Growing up, my mom filled our semi-detached home with animals of all sorts. I loved playing with them and helping with their care, so it was a natural thing for me to continue working with them once I was old enough.
I graduated from Northern College in 2015 but stayed there for an extra year to learn about wildlife rehabilitation. In my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working in general practice, in cat clinics, with exotics (anything that isn’t a dog or cat), and with wildlife; and I’ve enjoyed all of it. My favourite thing in veterinary medicine is nutrition as it’s so basic but can have such an impact on health.
In my spare time, I enjoy making cakes and reading. My 3 cats named Ruby, Onyx, and Ammolite all love when I’m reading so they can sprawl on the couch with me. I also have fish and rats, and I’m just waiting to convince my fiancé to get a dog, too!
