Acupuncture Therapy for Pets
What is veterinary acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese therapy involving inserting sterile small gauge needles into certain areas of the body (known as acupuncture points). These small needles stimulate the nervous system by stimulating blood flow to the area. This ultimately helps the body release chemical signals to help with pain and discomfort.
Which health issues can be relieved through acupuncture?
Acupuncture can be very effective in relieving pain and discomfort especially in post-operative patients, arthritic patients and animals that suffer from disc disease.
Which animals can receive acupuncture?
All animals can benefit but we only practice on cats and dogs here.
How long are the sessions? Will my pet like it?
Sessions typically last from 10-40 minutes (the first session is usually a bit longer). Most pets find it very relaxing and the owners do too!
When can I expect to see results?
Results are not usually immediate and may require 6 sessions for visible improvement.
